Help Repeal the Lumber Tax on
American Homeowners!

The American Homeowners Grassroots Alliance (AHGA) needs your help in protecting your interests as a homeowner and those of the other 70 million U.S. homeowners. The U.S. government is imposing a new 27% tariff on Canadian lumber, a product that is used extensively in the construction of new homes and in remodeling. The tariff will result in an approximate $1,500 increase in the price of a new U.S. home. Americans spend even more on remodeling than on new homes, and it will also add substantially to the cost of remodeling projects.

The additional cost is denying home ownership to thousands at the low end of the economic scale. According to a major study, the environmental impact of U.S. timber company logging practices are far more harmful than logging practices in Canada.

As the independent advocacy organization representing the nations’ homeowners, AHGA is trying to persuade Congress that this tariff is unfair and should be repealed. We have testified before Congress on the subject and we are urging homeowners like you to express their views to key legislators who are in a position to take action to eliminate this unfair tariff.
